Naslen’s next as a leading man, Mollywood Times was meant to be one of at least 3 Malayalam films in theatres on May 14, 2026, but the makers have now decided to move out of this race and, instead, bring the film to theatres on June 5, 2026. The recent indefinite postponement of Rocking Star Yash’s Toxic has resulted in a lot of release dates being shuffled around and taking up this spot now. Mollywood Times is directed by Abhinav Sunder Nayak and sees the Premalu and Lokah star joined by Sharaf U Dheen, Sangeeth Prathap, Althaf Salim, Gopika Ramesh, Prashanth Alexander, among others.

Written by Ramu Sunil, with music by Jakes Bejoy, Mollywood Times is said to be a coming-of-age comedy drama, in which Naslen plays Vineeth Madhavan, a young student from small-town Kuttikkanam, whose biggest dream in life is to not only become a successful filmmaker, as hinted at in the song Apna Friday Aayega, but to also win the biggest honour there is – an Oscar award.

The film, according to reports, seeks to dismantle the romanticized struggle of filmmaking, instead choosing to explore it with a witty, gritty, and relatable look at youthful ambition. Mollywood Times’ core plot centres on the thin line between confidence and delusion, presented in Abhinav’s signature dark humor, as was witnessed in his earlier work, Mukundan Unni Associates.

Now that Mollywood Times is out of the equation, the two films that will be in theatres in the week of May 14 are Athiradi, starring Basil Joseph and Tovino Thomas, among others, as well as Anthony Varghese’s Kattalan.
